Reh-Fit’s Her Heart Her Way Program Wins Global Innovation Award
Winnipeg, MB — November 4, 2025 — The Reh-Fit Centre has been recognized with a Program Innovation Award from the Medical Fitness Association (MFA) for its innovative heart health program Her Heart Her Way.
Jointly offered by the Reh-Fit Centre and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Her Heart Her Way empowers women aged 30 and older who are at risk of cardiovascular disease to take charge of their heart health through personalized mentoring, education, and lifestyle support.
“We’re honoured to receive this recognition from the Medical Fitness Association,” said Sue Boreskie, CEO of the Reh-Fit Centre. “This award highlights how collaboration between healthcare professionals and community organizations can create lasting change in women’s health – helping participants live longer, healthier, and more confident lives.”
Her Heart Her Way was developed by Reh-Fit’s team of health professionals as a 12-month, evidence-based prevention program for women identified as having an elevated risk of heart disease. Participants are referred by their primary care providers, matched with trained mentors, and guided through personalized coaching — both in-person and virtually — to make sustainable changes in areas such as nutrition, physical activity, and stress management.
“We are honoured to have led this program with the trust of our partners and want to thank Victoria Hospital Foundation whose generous investment helped make this work possible,” added Boreskie.
To date, the program has supported nearly 150 women throughout Manitoba – with referrals from clinics in Morden and Winkler to Winnipeg, Lac du Bonnet, and Beausejour – in improving their cardiovascular health and reducing their risk factors through practical, ongoing support.
If you or someone you know may benefit from the program, talk to your health care provider to learn more about eligibility and referral options.
