Celebrating Active Aging Week with Free Community Events

October 3, 2025

Aging isn’t about slowing down — it’s about living life fully, staying connected, and continuing to do the things you love. At Reh-Fit, we believe that living longer should also mean living better, which is why we’re excited to invite you to celebrate Active Aging Week with us from October 6 to 12, 2025. This annual event is all about exploring what healthy aging looks like and discovering new ways to support your well-being — body, mind, and spirit.

Active Aging Week is built around the idea that wellness is more than just physical fitness. It’s about nurturing all eight dimensions of well-being — physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, occupational, financial, and environmental. Together, these areas help us build strength, reduce stress, stay connected, and live independently as we age. Throughout the week, we’re offering a variety of free community events, workshops, and talks that showcase how small changes and meaningful connections can make a big difference in how we feel and function every day.

One of the highlights of the week is our Community Health Fair on Tuesday, October 7, where you’ll be able to explore all eight dimensions of well-being under one roof. Local organizations, wellness professionals, and community supports will be on hand with information, product samples, and practical resources to help you thrive. That same afternoon, join us for a talk with Dr. Verena Menec, one of Canada’s leading gerontology researchers, who will explore the powerful connection between meaningful relationships and healthy aging.

Later in the week, we’ll welcome Dr. Neil Craton on Thursday, October 9 for an engaging session on how training like an athlete — no matter your age — can support strength, mobility, and longevity. Throughout the week, we’ll also host free workshops focused on topics like memory, nutrition, movement, and stress management, all designed to give you the tools you need to support your overall well-being.

We’re also opening our doors even wider from October 9 to 12, when members can bring a friend for free to experience everything Reh-Fit has to offer. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore our fitness facilities, walk the track, take part in a group class, or simply connect with our welcoming community.

As Canada’s first certified medical fitness facility — and the only fitness facility in the world to hold both Medical Fitness Association (MFA) certification and Imagine Canada accreditation — Reh-Fit is uniquely positioned to support active aging. Our integrated approach to health and fitness is backed by research showing that active living can reduce hospitalizations, improve mental health, and lower long-term disease risk — all while helping you maintain independence and enjoy life to the fullest.

Whether you’re already part of the Reh-Fit community or joining us for the first time, Active Aging Week is the perfect chance to explore how you can live well at every stage of life. All events are free and open to the public, and we’d love to see you there.
